Chevrolet Malibu 2013

 wikipedia

The Chevrolet Malibu (named after Malibu, California) is a mid-size car produced by General Motors. The Malibu began as a trim-level of the Chevrolet Chevelle, but became its own model line beginning in the 1978 model year. Originally a rear-wheel drive intermediate, GM revived the Malibu nameplate as a front-wheel drive car for MY 1997.
Traditionally, the Malibu was marketed primarily in North America, but the new Malibu model introduced in CY 2012 will be sold in most global markets.

Inspiration lies around every corner. “I don’t design cars, but I know great design when I see it and that’s how my newest collection was born,” says fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi. He was so enamored with the all-new completely redesigned 2013 Chevy Malibu that it became the inspiration — the muse — for his new Malibu Collection.
Technology
The innovative technology of Malibu offers you the kind of comfort and convenience that counts. Available Chevrolet MyLink offers a variety of information, entertainment and an available navigation feature that you can easily control with the tap of your fingers or the sound of your voice. Sync your compatible smartphone and enjoy your favorite Pandora® playlist or connect your own music library while on the go. Additional features such as available Remote Start and Keyless Access with Push Button Start take convenience up a notch before the drive even begins. Start and set the temperature in your Malibu all before setting foot inside.

Worldly Style

Embodying the aggressive stance of a sports car combined with the clean, classic lines of a high-end luxury car, Malibu has taken on all the right touches to attract attention. The vehicle has been redesigned to create a wider track and a shorter wheelbase along with available 19" inch wheels (requires turbocharged engine) that makes for a bold yet unmistakably elegant presence in motion or standing still.

Aerodynamic Design

Aside from striking style, Malibu also wields design with purpose. Aerodynamic details guide airflow seamlessly around the vehicle body to help increase fuel efficiency by decreasing resistance. The aero-optimized rounded corners, taillamps and side mirrors allow the car to effortlessly slice through the air.

Spaciousness Meets Sophistication

While maintaining its sophisticated dual-cockpit design, the sport-sculpted seats have been highly bolstered for long-distance comfort. In addition to premium comfort, storage options have been enhanced to provide even more roominess for your practical needs. The easily accessible storage includes an area behind the available 7" diagonal color touch-screen.

No detail overlooked

Expert craftsmanship can be found throughout Malibu whether in its refined surfacing with premium materials or the rich appointments available throughout such as chrome, woodgrain or metallic accents, depending on the model. The sleek interior features acoustic laminated glass for a superb level of quietness as well as low-gloss surfacing and soft-touch tactility to provide a luxurious appearance.

The Brains to Match the Beauty

With Malibu Eco, technology and style come together to bring you a fuel-efficient drive. The ECOTEC® 2.4L
engine with eAssist technology works subtly with the vehicle's mechanics, capturing energy to help support the
powertrain. The result is a remarkable EPA-estimated 37 MPG on the highway and up to 580 highway
miles per tank
. The 7-inch diagonal touch-screen available with eAssist includes a Power Flow display
that indicates which mode eAssist is in. Malibu not only boasts intuitive efficiency with the assistance of eAssist technology but also carries on the line of style the makes Malibu what it is.

Using Fuel Intelligently with eAssist

Midsize is taken to the next level with eAssist technology, a system that works intelligently and subtly with the vehicle’s mechanics, capturing energy to help support the powertrain. The result is a remarkable EPA-estimated 37 MPG on the highway and a vehicle that uses fuel when you need it, and preserves it when you don’t.

Regenerative Braking

There’s no need to ever think about charging the lithium-ion battery. eAssist features regenerative braking that captures power normally lost during coasting or braking, converts it to electricity and stores it for when it’s needed, helping keep the lithium-ion battery charged and off your to-do list.

Lithium-Ion Battery Pack

How do you power a battery without charging it? It’s simple: Just drive and in certain scenarios the lithium-ion battery stores energy to keep charged. That energy is later used to deliver an electric boost to the engine during heavy acceleration or climbing a grade. And while the vehicle is at a stop, the engine shuts off and the battery-powered motor-generator unit powers accessories, preserving fuel so it can be used later.

ECOTEC® 2.4L Direct Injection 4-Cylinder Engine

Offering an EPA-estimated 25 MPG city/37 highway in a midsize sedan takes careful thought. However, offering such remarkable fuel economy along with 182 horsepower and its solid, connected-to-the-road feel of a premium sedan … well, that takes passion. With its ECOTEC® 2.4L Direct Injection 4-cylinder engine that works intuitively with the 15 kW motor-generator unit to conserve fuel when it’s not needed, Malibu Eco uses smarter engineering for smarter driving.

15 kW Motor-Generator Unit

Owning the 2013 Malibu Eco means you get a smarter drive. When the car is stopped, it automatically switches from using gas to energy from the lithium-ion battery. The motor-generator unit brings the engine to a smooth stop and prepares it for a seamless start when the brake pedal is released. Drivers wouldn’t notice the transition if it weren’t for the integrated high-resolution full-color Driver Information Center and 7-inch diagonal touch-screen that display when the battery is supporting the powertrain.

Statement-Making Performance

Ride and Handling

To enhance the Malibu experience, ride and handling has been tuned and calibrated on rural roads, highways and at testing facilities around the world. The wider track and stiffer structure delivers more responsive, solid handling while the premium ZF steering components offer top-of-the-line precision and control. The four-wheel antilock disc brakes help ensure reliable stopping performance. The hydraulic ride bushings and tuned suspension also work together to give you a quiet and overall smooth ride.

Power Meets Practicality

When it comes to Malibu, satisfaction comes with the power to reach your destination without ever having to compromise. The power starts at the heart of the vehicle through the ECOTEC® 2.5L 4-cylinder engine with direct injection and Variable Valve Timing (standard on LS, LT and LTZ) and the available ECOTEC 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine also with direct injection and Variable Valve Timing. The engine provides great lower-end torque and enhanced fuel-economy while still delivering 197 horsepower (LS, LT and LTZ) or 259 horsepower, with available turbocharged engine. With all of these details, Malibu provides you with practical power no matter where the road takes you.

Built For Safety

2013 Chevy Malibu Mid Size Sedan Safety Features

Before

Protection is great, but prevention is better. The 2013 Malibu was designed with that in mind, offering technologies that can help avoid collisions altogether including 4-wheel antilock disc brakes, traction control and the StabiliTrak® Electronic Stability Control System.
There's also the available Lane Departure Warning that lets you know when you're wandering from your lane without using your turn signal (above 25 mph), and available advanced Forward Collision Alert that signals, when you're rapidly approaching a vehicle, that a collision may become imminent.

During

In the event of a collision, Malibu is equipped to help protect you and your passengers. For the first time, Malibu now includes 10 airbags including knee air bags for the driver and front passenger. Structural integrity of the vehicle is important during a collision and Malibu provides an extremely strong, stiff body and an ultra-high-strength steel safety cage, along with rollover protection.

After

Every Malibu offers the security of OnStar®†with Automatic Crash Response, standard for the first six months. Built-in sensors can automatically alert an OnStar Advisor who is immediately connected to you through your vehicle to see if you need help sent to your exact location — even if you can’t respond.
